«Christmas night had just passed. The little girl woke up early, while the sky was still pale and the city silent. A warm light came from the living room, and the Christmas tree was still shining: it had never stopped watching over the house. Beneath its branches – next to the milk and the cookies Bianca had left the night before so they could be enjoyed – she noticed a note that hadn’t been there the evening before:
“Thank you, Bianca!
Everything was delicious…
I hope you like the presents…
— Santa Claus”
The plate was almost empty and the glass of milk was gone. The girl smiled, holding the note tightly in her hands. He had really been there! Then she began to open the presents slowly, one by one. Each one made her happy, but the most beautiful gift was that message: knowing she had done something good with so little. When the house began to wake up, Bianca put the note in a special place. From that morning on, she knew that the magic of Christmas lives in small gestures made with the heart.»
«La notte di Natale era appena passata. La bambina si svegliò presto, quando il cielo era ancora chiaro e la città silenziosa. Dal salotto arrivava una luce calda e l’albero di Natale brillava: non aveva smesso di vegliare. Sotto i suoi rami – vicino al latte e ai biscotti che Bianca aveva lasciato la sera prima perché potessero ristorarsi – notò un biglietto che la notte prima non c’era:
“Grazie Bianca!
Era tutto squisito…
…spero che i regali ti piacciano…
…Babbo Natale”
Il piatto era quasi vuoto e il bicchiere di latte finito. La bambina sorrise, stringendolo tra le mani. Era passato davvero! Poi iniziò ad aprire lentamente i regali, uno alla volta. Ciascuno di essi la rendeva felice, ma il dono più bello era quel messaggio: sapere di aver fatto qualcosa di buono con così poco. Quando la casa iniziò a svegliarsi, Bianca ripose il biglietto in un posto speciale… da quel mattino sapeva che la magia del Natale vive nei piccoli gesti fatti con il cuore.»
